Garrison Texas

The Biggest Little Small Town in Texas

Schools

Historical Note:

In 1886 Garrison's first school, a log church-schoolhouse near Greenwood, burned to the ground. Local citizens opened their homes to hold classes until the Mineral Springs Institute was built east of the railroad tracks in 1895.

In 1911 a brick school was built on the site where the earlier elementary school was located. In 1916 this building was destroyed by fire.

New, modern buildings now comprise the Garrison ISD.  More historical information about the Garrison school district is viewable on their website at http://www.garrisonisd.com
